Given Lines is a series of small-scale drawings celebrating the return of movement and life to the city following the pandemic lockdowns.

My drawings record the ‘lines given’ by people moving through public space.

I conducted a poll of where in central London felt significant to return to following the lockdowns and made many tiny drawings as a record of these locations.
Each drawing is 7.5cm x 11cm.

They are both analogous to long-exposure photography and diametrically opposite, a record of human observation and a reminder that our city exists through our presence.

In an era of big data and mass measurement of daily life, they are a testament to the hand drawn line.
