New paint

So after my nice walk into town I eventually made it to the art shop and bought some new acrylics. Just three colours to start with: red, blue, yellow.

And when I got back to the studio, the first thing I did was set about testing them out … making a nice colour rectangle. My variation on a colour wheel.

I’m always amazed at the basic art maths of mixing colours. That with just a basic red, blue and yellow I can reach grassy greens, jewels of turquoise and amethyst, burning oranges and infinite variations in between. Such alchemy and magic!

And my first painting out here with my new paints is below.  If you scroll quickly down you should get the effect of a painting in progress. Picture is of my friend Ses in the studio.
